TIMES BLORA, JAKARTA – In the realm of technology, Google has once again captivated enthusiasts with its latest innovation: the "Circle to Search" feature. Initially unveiled through the Samsung Galaxy S24 series launch, this feature has now made its way to Google Pixel devices, stirring excitement among tech aficionados.
So, what exactly is "Circle to Search"? It's a groundbreaking feature designed to expedite information retrieval without the hassle of switching between apps. Users can seamlessly search for information related to content displayed on their smartphone screens with just a simple gesture.
Scheduled for release on January 31st, the "Circle to Search" functionality will be available on select models including the Google Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, and Samsung Galaxy S24, across all languages. Google promises an enhanced user experience, providing a novel way to search for content on mobile devices without app-switching, thereby facilitating a more intuitive and natural search method.
Activating this feature is as simple as holding down the home button or navigation bar on Android phones. Users can then circle, highlight, scribble, or tap on images to glean further information about the items depicted.
However, Google emphasizes copyright protection by ensuring that the feature is unavailable for personal images or those captured through screenshots.
In addition to "Circle to Search," Google plans to roll out AI-powered multi-search summaries for Android and iOS users in the United States this week. This feature aims to provide users with comprehensive search results in English, leveraging artificial intelligence to enhance search capabilities.
Looking ahead, Google envisions a future where users can search anytime, anywhere, seamlessly integrating search functionalities into their daily lives.
According to tech leaker AssembleDebug, "Circle to Search" is poised to receive functional upgrades in the near future. Two new additions include the "Copy Image" and "Share Image" options.
The "Copy Image" feature allows users to capture a screenshot of the circled portion, directing them to a simple editing interface. From there, users can edit the image as desired before copying and sharing it across supported applications.
Similarly, the "Share Image" option streamlines the sharing process by enabling users to quickly distribute screenshots to various platforms such as social media, instant messaging, and cloud storage services.
These enhancements not only save time but also simplify the sharing of screenshots without the need to switch between multiple applications.
In addition to these new features, "Circle to Search" will introduce a revamped search interface. Moving away from the circular design, Google plans to introduce a more robust square-shaped search interface, enhancing user interaction and visual appeal.
As these updates unfold, users can expect an enriched search experience on Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel devices equipped with the "Circle to Search" feature. With its ongoing innovation, Google continues to redefine the boundaries of smartphone functionality, making information retrieval more seamless and intuitive than ever before. (*)
